It’s not just about notes, anymore. This week we are going to train our ears by picking out the single notes on the open strings, the notes we know on the B and E strings as well as some power chords.
There are a couple of tricks to picking chords out by ear.
First, I always try to listen for the bass note. This is easier in Rock, Country and Blues, because the bass note (or bottom note) usually dictates what chord you’re playing.
Later on, we’ll get to picking chords out that do not start on the root.
